Five of The Rocky Mountain Highs of Colorado

Colorado, the Centennial State, is an outdoor lover’s paradise. You have skiing, fly fishing, hiking and camping all at your disposal in the Rocky Mountain state. The atmosphere, altitude and attitude seem to boasts
a higher zest than some other states. John Denver really had something to sing about when it came to Colorado. Visitors still sing the praises of Colorado today.
The Garden of the Gods
The thirteen bouldered peaks and rock pinnacles that make up the Garden of the Gods are a major appeal in Colorado Springs. Charles Elliot Perkins purchased the area in 1879. It would become a park in 1909. Be sure to spot the Kissing Camels, White Rock, the Tower of Babel, the Cathedral Towers and the Sleeping Giant.
Roam with the ancestors at Mesa Verde National Park
Colorado’s pride and joy in terms of ancient, preserved settlements is the Mesa Verde National Park. The site is home to the Ancestral Puebloans, those who lived here around 1,000 years ago. The park itself maintains the civilization’s cultural relics.
Climb Pikes Peak
At 14,110 feet, Pikes Peak is not the tallest of the state’s fifty-four fourteen’ers. It is however the most famous, perhaps for the road and the train taking you to the top. From the summit at Pikes Peak, look out for the Oklahoma panhandle, Kansas, Wyoming, the Spanish Peaks in New Mexico and the Continental Divide.
Feel sand in your toes in, Colorado?
Despite being utterly landlocked, you can still feel sand in your toes when you take a drive with Colorado car rental to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. The park represents a shifting sea of sand. It measures 30 square miles, with the tallest sand peak stretching up to 700 feet. You can find the Great Sand Dunes National Park in the arid scrub-brush of the San Luis Valley.
Rock out at Red Rocks Amphitheater
A favorite music venue for artists and fans in Colorado is without question Red Rocks Amphitheater. The massive, slanting red-rock outcroppings rise from the earth, creating not just an aesthetically pleasing environment but also an acoustically delightful one at that. Come here for a concert or just to take in the view of Denver at sunset.
